DISCOVERING THE OH BOY

Farnell can be seen as part of a long-drawn movement away from myth towards ritual and cult practice. This reflects the characteristic evidence of scholars: we move from a world where the prime material was creative literature - prose or poetry, read by people who were sensitive to it - away to a different world where the prime material was found by archaeologists, ethnologists and those who, in effect, quarried in literature.
