A SHORTAGE IN LEADERSHIP
In a survey carried out during last year’s Campaign for Learning Adult Learning Week, 90% of respondents said they weren’t being offered enough leadership skills training in the area of managing people. Unlike the ‘hard’ skills, such as IT certification
or financial management, which are often given greater priority and
budgets, the ‘soft’ skills, which include people management, team
building and leadership, are often treated as an afterthought and way
down the priorities list.
This is puzzling, considering most business experts say that building a strong and motivated team is a key success factor. Some
88% of respondents to the same survey felt so strongly about this
shortfall that they said they would be prepared to develop people
management skills outside their working hours.
OM MALIK RIGHT AS ALWAYS
Earlier this week, I got a chance to go on Leo Laporte’s Twit.tv. We debated the much-discussed New York Times story, which essentially said blogging is dead. It has been more than 10 years since I started to blog, and still, the act of blogging is consistently misunderstood.
It (blogging) isn’t a tool. It isn’t a product. It isn’t a news outlet. Blogging is just that: blogging, a simple act of sharing a part of yourself. You can do that through emotional outbursts, news, links, opinion, photos or videos. You can do it through Twitter, Facebook or a traditional blogging service. GIGAOM
GETTING WHAT YOU DESERVE
There’s a special sense of betrayal reserved for those who discover
they’re being paid significantly less than their colleagues, despite
being equals in terms of duties, education and experience. Once the
rage over the injustice of it all has subsided and you’ve talked the cat
out from under the bed, it’s time to decide what to do to remedy the
situation. Business communication coach and author of Self-Promotion
for Introverts has seven tips for dealing with pay inequity that will
hopefully help you level the playing field if not find another one. GUYKAWASAKI
NOKIA AND MICROSOFT: FAILURE TO LAUNCH
If and only if Paul Thurott is right -- which is not excluded but a long shot to say the least -- and there will be no Windows Phone 7 Mango update this year as the rumor states, we are likely to not see any Nokia made Windows Phone 7 devices until 2012.
Nokia and Microsoft announced a strategic alliance last month according to which the Finnish giant will only ship smartphones with Windows Phone 7. A new ecosystem will be created which will benefit everybody on the long term but, Nokia stated it clearly that it will be waiting for the Mango refresh to hit first. POCKETNOW

LIFE PROOF YOUR IPHONE
This case looks pretty impressive and surprisingly thin. I saw the case on commandN – Episode #237. They have some pretty convincing videos on the manufacturer’s website of how the case works and I’ve posted them below. APPLEIPHONESCHOOL

INFORMATION FARMING
There's still some uproar over information farms with Google recently announcing its new array of algorithms to better deal with the issue. For those of you still wondering why Google hasn't taken a stronger stance let me explain.
Google essentially built it's multi-billion dollar empire on this very concept so for them to turn around and say others can't attempt to follow in their footsteps is a bit hypocritical if not illegal.
The second being, it pays Google to some extent to keep these types of sites around. Many of these so called information farms implement heavy Google add campaigns and if successful quiet literally pays Google to solidify their presence. It's finding that perfect balance between the two, making it just difficult enough for users to find what they need without opting out to use other alternatives like Bing. Ultimately forcing users to view more adds and increase the number of potential hits.
Though we might not agree or like the truth those are the facts of life boys and girls. Instead of complaining and whining endlessly about it find the potential good that these sites afford for adapt and exploit. I just don't want to hear about it anymore when searching for tech news.
THE IODRIVE OCTAL IN A SUPERMICRO SERVER
Having conquered the big three of enterprise server vendors, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Dell Fusion-io, the company that uses flash memory to turn ordinary servers into super-fast storage systems has landed number four. Supermicro, the white-box manufacturer that sells its systems primarily through distributors and resellers says it has started offering Fusion-io technology in its server lineup.
At the CeBIT trade show taking place in Germany today, the pair demonstrated a server using a new Fuion-io product, the ioDrive Octal, in a Supermicro server that can do 1.4 million random input-output operations per second.
