I don't know why people think the death of Osama Bin Laden is worth celebrating, it's time to act with a dignified respect or else risk emboldening any supporters. There is no need to add insult to injury, instead we should be asking why a former friend of the U.S. would turn against her so violently. We should question why he was payed the highest respect in burial for a warrior in that water is synonymous with truth or the flow of information in almost every culture. We should ask why a man who would seem to rather make babies would take up arms, why he would give up a lap of luxury and risk his life and entire family for a cause why he felt his situation was so desperate that the only solution was to hurl rocks at a Goliath, to go on the run from the entire world. Now I'm in no way supporting what he did, but if we don't ask these questions and work to understand how and why a man like Bin Laden comes to do this well then there is no hope for growth and we're doomed to make the mistake over and over again. How intellectuals allow this type of behavior to take place boggles my mind.
People didn't want Bin Ladden's burial site to become a possible shrine. It's the same reason that back in the early 1970's the Russiabs dug up Hitlers grave site and had him cremated (they didn't want his grave to become an inspiration for neo nazi activist).
